Flat support or adjustable comfort—the choice is yours.

Today’s mattress contains the comfort and support system. What goes underneath provides a stable surface, sets the bed height, and—in an adjustable base—adds powered positioning.

What is a box spring now?

The familiar name stayed. The construction changed.

Traditional box springs used metal springs beneath the mattress. Modern Mack mattresses already contain their own engineered comfort and support system, so they need a stable, compatible surface underneath—not another layer of springs. That is why we call it a foundation.

Freedom to build the bed your way

Choose a wood foundation with a separate frame, a steel platform that combines both pieces, or an adjustable base that adds movement. We will help confirm size, compatibility, finished height, and support requirements.

Adjustable base

A powered support system that raises the head and feet. Choose it when positioning, presets, massage, or other model-specific comfort features matter.

Wood foundation

A solid, fabric-wrapped slatted surface in 8-inch or 4-inch heights. It supports the mattress but still requires a compatible bed frame; King uses two matching split pieces sold as a pair.

Steel platform base

A practical frame and foundation in one. Its heavy-duty folding structure supports the mattress, creates useful under-bed storage, and avoids buying a separate frame.

Low-profile bunkie board

A gray fabric-wrapped support surface for compatible bunks, daybeds, and low-profile platform applications.
